Mommy Moments: YELLOW!

mommy moments

Glad to be back and posting my Mommy Moments entry for this week.

I have a couple of Sabyn’s old pictures in yellow. No pictures of Sanjo in yellow, though. LOL.

MM: First Aid Tips

mommy moments

I can still vividly remember when Sabyn was 6 months old and I accidentally dropped the electric kettle on the floor, with boiling water all over my feet, and unfortunately, some splashed on Sabyn’s arm. I, being the paranoid mom that I am, panicked. It took me about 3 minutes to regain my composure, and I immediately brought Sabyn under the shower so that the running water would somehow soothe the burning sensation. I had to wait about half an hour before the nanny got back from the grocery, and we then rushed Sabyn to the emergency room of the nearby hospital. This was VERY traumatic for both Sabyn and me, and although she no longer remembers this incident, it has definitely left me a good lesson to learn.

So for this week’s Mommy Moment Meme, I want to share with you first aid tips for mild burns.

1. Never ever apply toothpaste on top of the burned area. This will only make things worse!

2. Do not immediately place ice or very cold water as this may cause the burned area to swell or fill with water.

3. If an infant or toddler is involved, make sure to bring him/her to the nearest hospital so that the doctors can make sure that everything is OK.

I am not a medical expert, so those tips I shared are just the ones that I have learned from experience. :)

Till the next Mommy Moments entry!

Mommy Moments: Newborn Days

mommy moments

I remember Sab as a very good little baby. She barely complained, she barely cried unless she’s hungry. I wouldn’t even know she pooped unless I smell it. She slept a lot (like most newborns do), but the one thing that really stood out is how strong she was. I can vividly remember the first time we went to see her pediatrician on her 2nd week. She was scheduled to get a shot, and although she cried for about a minute when the needle suddenly pierced her skin, she immediately stopped right as the needle was taken out. I didn’t even have to soothe her! She’s really a very jolly kid, and I knew that even when she was still a newborn. I love her to bits.

Anyway, here are some pictures of Sab when she was still just a few days old:

As for Sanjo, he and his Achi Sab have a few things in common, although they have more things that are complete opposites from each other. They both have huge appetites. Sanjo likes to cry a lot though. My mom says it’s because I cried a lot during my pregnancy, that’s why the baby felt it and has affected his emotions. I don’t know how true that is, but crying baby or not, he’s still our little bundle of joy.

The one thing I would say about Sanjo as a newborn is that he looks so much like his dad. They’re like two peas in a pod. Simply adorable.
